The Elf Wars is a Christmas slot game by Realtime Gaming (RTG) published in December 2012, and it’s a download-only game that has its bad sides and good sides. It’s one for high rollers and experienced slot players as the maximum bet is $250 and in case of lower bets you’ll be hitting jackpots for little gain. Not worth it. Either play The Elf Wars with a huge bankroll or don’t play at all. The Elf Wars is so packed with features and bonus games that it’s a difficult beast to tame and you’d better learn how to play the game before you start playing for money. Do click the Help button to read the rules as there are 11 screens displaying bonus games only.
The Elf Wars is sharing the same theme and feature games as three previous Realtime Gaming titles: Santa Strikes Back, Return of Rudolph and Rudolph’s Revenge. It’s a download-only slot, which means the process is as follows: find a download casino such as Silver Oak Casino or 5Dimes Grand Casino, sign up and download the casino software. Then search for “elf wars” and download The Elf Wars. Then you’re ready to play.
The Elf Wars Return to Player (RTP) and Variance
Although no official info is given by Realtime Gaming, it’s very likely RTP of The Elf Wars is configurable by the casino and can be 91%, 95% or 97.5%, with the middle value most likely to be seen in most casinos. But we’re classifying The Elf Wars as a 97.5% RTP slot. This is a medium-variance slot, which is pretty good since it’s a slot game packed with bonus games. The Elf Wars is a Feature Guarantee slot, which means that if you go 150 spins without triggering a bonus feature you’ll be awarded one. Another interesting thing is that you can trigger the feature even sooner, but the chance of triggering it is just what you see on the screen, e.g. 3.5% if you got 141 spins left to automatic trigger. Just click the Play button next to the meter to try your luck.
The Elf Wars Bonus Games
1 Free Re-Spin is triggered when 2 or more Good or Bad Elves. A pick feature is activated when 3 or more Good Elves emerge anywhere after a Good Elves Re-Spin or if 3 or more Bad Elves appear after a Bad Elves Re-Spin. When players select a triggering scatter, they are rewarded with either the Jackpot Spins Feature or the Santa Strikes Back feature, for Good Elves.
If 3 or more Bad Elves appear, either Rudoph’s Revenge or Rudolph’s Rampage feature will be activated. During the Bad Feature free games, should all 3 Rudolphs appear, Rudolph will expand and triple all prizes.
In Rudolph’s Rampage (as seen above), players choose from 8 Factory locations in order to find 3 missing elves. The less picks it takes to find all 3, the more Free Games are awarded. If an Elf is holding a red present, Bad Elves act as Rudolph substitutes. If it is a blue present, prizes are quadrupled. If it is green, Rudolph expands on the 3rd reel. If 3 or more Bad Elves appear after a Re-Spin, 7 Free Games are added.
In Rudolph’s Revenge 7 Free Games are granted. Prizes are doubled and the number of Rudolphs is added. If 4 or 5 scatters trigger the feature, Bad Elves act as Rudolph substitutes. 3 or more Bad Elves add 7 Free Games.
In Santa Strikes Back, 7 Free Games are granted. When a Candy Cane appears, it lights the Star on the reel. 5 lit Stars will reset the number of Free Games to 7 and increase the prize multiplier by 1. The feature can reset up to 9 times.
If Jackpot Spins (seen above) is activated, a wheel with 6 segments appears. The wheel spins up to 3 times. Every spin can strike the Progressive Jackpot, the Santa Strikes Back feature or a prize of up to x100 slot bet. If the Progressive Jackpot or Santa Strikes Back is awarded, the spins are over.
The jackpot wheel will bring something, and in our case after three spins we got 112x slot bet (as you can see on the screenshot), and if our bet was max bet of $250 at the time, then that would amount to $28,000. And it would actually be the biggest win we got during test play for purposes of slot reviews until this point.
